Legends say that Dochia, daughter of the last Dacian King Decebalus, beautiful beyond compare, fell in love with the Spirit of the Mountain and the two had a child together, which they named Dragomir. At his birth, the young one had four fates, Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter; and each bestowed upon him a blessing: Spring gave him life everlasting, Summer the knowledge of how to love, Fall a magical flute with which to enchant the hearts of others and Winter, who gifted the child with garments white as snow and that glittered like diamonds.
As he grew older, the townsfolk became more and more fond of the young man, for he was always merry and full joy. It is said that no young maiden could ever resist his charms.
Throughout his long life, Dragomir brought hapiness and love into the lives of those he met. Thus, the people started calling him Dragobete, and so the legend was born.
