Second Round Officers' Training 2/2012

Sunday, 12th February 2012, saw the second round Officer's Training for Area E1. We hired the Boardroom at the American Women's Club premises in Zurich, which was just perfect for our small group. We spent 4 hours together breaking for a sandwich lunch which each provided for themselves. Thanks to Paul and Angela who carried their trusty Nespresso machine to provide us with delightful coffee.

We covered such topics as the differences in a corporate club, knowing your officer role, how to judge at contests, a look at Easy Speak and a look at the proposed District Reformation Proposals.

Angela Saxby, our newly appointed Assistent Area Governor, presented the Konow Your Role sesson and had prepared cards to help us recognize our own roles compared to others. Even our presidents were challenged as you can see in the photo.

Again we had a successful training together and as usual the interaction between clubs was lively and well appreciated. I encourage our next term officers to make the effort to attend the next officer training. The benefits go beyond getting DCP points for your club. The training prepares you for your role as a club officer. In addition it gives the officers an opportunity to get to know the other clubs and the unique challenges of each club. And there is always the personal growth aspect also. Trainings offer advanced members opportunites to deliver educational sessions and deliver presentations related to their area of expertise.

The best way to get to know an officer role is to assist a current officer. Officer trainings, by the way, are also open to all members, which is another way to get to know and prepare for an officer role.
