Amsterdam Advanced Toastmasters Club
As we grow as Toastmasters, we sometimes acknowledge the need for a greater challenge. Receiving a stronger level of feedback, experimenting beyond what a regular club meeting has to offer, and being mentored by some of the most experienced speakers in the area. If that sounds like you, then you might want to consider joining our advanced club.
Goal: Foster an environment for experienced Toastmasters to get comprehensive feedback, test new ideas, and share best practices.
Membership requirements: Dual membership and a minimum of 7 speeches.
Club’s Manifesto
-
Your home club first
Being a member of the Advance Club should in no way affect your home club negatively. In fact, the club will only claim DCP points if one’s home club is already a distinguished club.
-
Feedback is king
Give the best feedback you possibly can. Be specific, give examples, add points for improvement, and be honest. Everybody is encouraged to give feedback, even when they are not the evaluators.
-
You know the rules
You know all of the hats a Toastmasters wears and so does everybody in the room. Skip the part where you explain your role, use the time instead to deliver something great.
-
Keep a record
Every meeting, a member will be appointed as the secretary. In this role, one shall write down the most insightful tips of the meeting. This knowledge will be regularly published and shared.
-
Experiment continuously
Reciting? Role-playing? Singing? Debating? Anything is possible. Every meeting should be an opportunity to experiment and learn something new.
-
Share your knowledge
We will organize regular club visit. During each visit, members of the advanced club should give as much feedback to the club as possible.
-
Practical triumphs
We strive to practice as much as we can. This involves workshops, practicing in smaller groups, give your audience the chance to participate, and hands-on teaching. |
