Welcome
Welcome to Area D2
Area D2 Governor - Paul Talacko

Welcome to Division D
Clubs in Bavaria in Germany, Austria, Hungary and The Czech Republic

Welcome to District 59
Dear Toastmasters of District 59,

Did you know in which special district you are a Toastmasters member?

At the start of the Toastmaster term the district includes 18 countries in continental Europe, 152 active clubs, and I don´t dare to estimate the cultural diversity. Also we speak a variety of languages: Dutch, English, French, German, Polish, Portuguese, Swedish. More languages are planned.
Don´t you think this remarkable? And YOU are a part of this!

With all the variety (or diversity): What do we have in common?
Personal growth! We all meet to grow confidence – no matter which culture, language or country. You as a member are in the focus of Toastmasters. District 59 supports you to learn and grow.
In all clubs I see members striving to get better and helping each other to achieve their goals.

What is your personal goal? Do you want to be a great speaker, professional trainer, or rather a leader? Or simply have fun speaking up?
Whatever you personally want in order to achieve it – you set your goals and then define steps to get there. For over 85 years Toastmasters provides a program for success. As district leaders we work with your clubs so you can accomplish your goals!
As our International President Gary Schmidt puts it: Toastmasters: Confidence. Leadership. Service.

Another area to focus on is: we still have 4 countries and quite a bunch of cities allover Europe where there is no Toastmsters club at all – yet. What about showing them the key to success in personal growth? Spread the word – help them building a club.
Let´s bring Toastmasters to even more members, more individuals to benefit from our program.
Let´s master the – sometimes – challenges together and have a lot of fun in our district:

Toastmasters District 59 – Connect through Diversity

Ellen Hermens, DTM
District Governor

About Ellen

Ellen Hermens is an enthusiastic Toastmaster. She joined in 2003 and since then has achieved the title Distinguished Toastmaster.
She knows Toastmaster by heart through serving in a variety of club officer roles as well as Area Gov., Division Gov. District PR officer, Lieutenant Governor Education & Training.
In 2007 she received the award "DIVISION GOVERNOR of the Year 2006-07". Ellen is currently member of three clubs in Munich.

Ellen Hermens is a native German and she started her career as a computer scientist (Diplom-Informatikerin). She did not stop there but attended a lot of additional education to finally achieve the certificate of being licensed NLP trainer.
Toastmasters helped her finding the focus on public speaking: as professional speaker and rhetoric expert she coaches and trains executives in public speaking at her business www.speech-coach.de

Ellen has many hobbies: parlor games, German flute, Motorbiking, Wii, Diving, Science Fiction, and of course Toastmasters.

As District Governor she considers it an honour to serve the district members and lead 54 leaders. She supports the Division Governors to run their Divisions as small organizations in themselves. Ellen wants every district officer, every club officer and every member to get the most out of the Toastmasters program – for their personal growth!
